Bitlocker

Jag använder Winvista Ultimate, men jag kan inte få igång Bitlocker. Min hårddisk är partitionerad enligt följande.

 

C: ca 40GB NTFS

D: ca 10GB NTFS

E: ca 130GB NTFS

F: ca 130GB NTFS

 

När jag går in i Bitlocker via kontrollpanelen står det dels att jag inte har en TPM, vilket är sant. Men det ska ju gå att använda ex. ett USB-minne till detta. Det står emellertid också att "The drive configuration is unsuitable for BitLocker Drive Encryption. To use BitLocker, please re-partition your hard drive according to the BitLocker requirements." Detta är mitt problem. Nedan har jag kopierat vad som står i Hjälpen om requirements.

 

[log]Before you can turn on BitLocker Drive Encryption you need to make sure that your computer's hard disk has the following:

 

At least two partitions (also called volumes).

 

One partition is for the operating system drive (typically drive C) that BitLocker will encrypt, and one is for the active partition, which must remain unencrypted to start the computer. The size of the active partition must be at least 1.5 gigabytes (GB).

 

To create a partition (volume)

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

 

To create a partition (volume) on a hard disk, there must be either unallocated (empty) space on the hard disk, or free space within an extended partition on the hard disk. If there is no unallocated space, you can create some by deleting an existing volume or by using a third-party partitioning program. For more information, see Can I repartition my hard disk?

 

On a basic disk, the first three volumes you create will be formatted as primary partitions. Beginning with the fourth volume, each volume will be configured as a logical drive within an extended partition. For more information, see What are partitions and logical drives? and What are basic and dynamic disks?

 

Click to open Computer Management.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

 

In the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

 

Right-click an unallocated region on your hard disk, and then click New Simple Volume.

 

Follow the instructions in the New Simple Volume Wizard to create a new volume.

 

Both partitions must be formatted with the NTFS file system.

 

To format a partition (volume)

You can format an existing partition or a newly created volume.

 

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

 

Warning

Formatting a volume will destroy any data on the partition.

 

If you need to save data on the volume, either temporarily or permanently move the data to another storage device or location before you proceed.

 

Click to open Computer Management.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

 

In the navigation pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

 

Right-click the volume that you want to format, and then click Format.

 

To format the volume with the default settings, in the Format dialog box, click OK, and then click OK again.

 

If your computer meets these requirements, you can turn on BitLocker.[/log]

 

Om jag kör BitLocker Drive Preparation Tool (BdeHdCfg.exe), står det inledningsvis att "D: will be made the active drive." När jag trycker continue får jag ett felmeddelande som säger att "The BitLocker Drive Preparation Tool failed to copy boot files. You made need to manually prepare your drive for BitLocker.". Vad kan jag göra?

Jag vet inte tyvärr hur man gör det i just Vista (avinstallerade det snabbt), men med t.ex. Partition Magic eller Data Recovery Wizard Professional kan du sätta partitionerna till active.

 

Dessa program är dessvärre inte fria men du kanske kan låna programmet av en kompis.

Att göra partionen aktiv tycks Prep tool klara själv, det är kopierandet av boot-filerna som sätter stopp för guiden. Men det måste finnas ett sätt att lösa problemet utan guiden också? Att göra partitionen aktiv kan jag göra i diskhantering, men det är inte bra att ha partitioner aktiva såvida de inte innehåller operativsystem.

Nu fick jag det att fungera! Jag tömde D-partitionen och körde sedan Prep tool igen. Den ville helt enkelt lägga bootfilerna först på partitionen.
