Bo L Sjevik
They gave an example. Once connected to their VPN Server from an XP Pro client, they said it's very slow. They said it takes minutes to open a small Word document. So in that case, they should probably try to troubleshoot RRAS, is that what you said before? Clay: Yes. There's something that can be a problem. Name resolution could be a problem, if they try to open up a link to a document. If name resolution is not absolutely perfect, the local machine itself may try different methods of finding that server where that Word document is. Granted if this is over a dial-up connection, it's going to be slow. You have the main connection to the Internet that you're maintaining, plus on top of that, you're putting a VPN tunnel in there. All of that stuff needs to be handled. So that same Word document, if it was just straight on a Web page, would be much faster pulling it in than if you were trying to do it over a VPN connection. There's a little more traffic. However if you have a cable modem or DSL connection, connecting to another size of cable or T1 or DSL, it should be much faster. Bo L Sjevik
