A Soyuz "soft landing" is bone-jarringly hard for astronauts on their way home. Astronauts returning to Earth on the Roscosmos Soyuz start their journey smoothly with a gentle undocking, but the ride gets a lot rougher before they make their semi-graceful crash into the plains of Kazakhstan.
