The key here to note is, Symantec isn’t say their software is failing. Rather, they are saying the traditional anti-virus approach based around database of malware signatures is no longer an effective method to protect against malware.

och därför har väl inget välkänt antivirusprogram förlitat sig på bara signaturer på flera år.

 

Dessutom handlar det nog inte virusattacker utom om cyperattacker, t ex mot större företag och länder, så vanliga hemanvändare kan sova lugnt:

 

Symantec is creating a new response team dedicated to helping businesses affected by cybersecurity attacks, and within six months, the company will begin offering special intelligence briefings to companies who want to learn why and how they're being hacked. A tool is also in development within the company that will look for advanced malware within a company's network, going beyond the capabilities of traditional anti-virus software.
